Are you an experienced, qualified plumber looking to take the next step in your career? We are currently recruiting for two permanent Lecturer and Programme Lead – Plumbing positions at a leading education provider in Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plumbing professional to share their industry knowledge and help develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Previous teaching experience is not essential. If you are a qualified plumber with strong industry experience and a genuine interest in supporting and developing young people, full support will be provided to help you gain the required teaching qualification.
The Role
As a Lecturer and Programme Lead, you will use your practical plumbing experience to deliver high-quality training and education to students studying plumbing programmes. You will play an important role in helping learners develop the practical skills, knowledge and confidence they need to progress into employment or further study.
The successful candidates will ideally have experience of supporting others within industry, such as mentoring apprentices, training colleagues or taking responsibility for developing less experienced members of a team. You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of the plumbing programme, supporting students throughout their studies and helping to maintain a positive, engaging learning environment.
About You
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Plumbing as a minimum
- At least 3 years' hands-on plumbing experience
- Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English
- A genuine interest in working with and supporting young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to motivate, encourage and develop learners
- A professional and positive approach to working as part of a team
A teaching qualification is not essential. The successful candidate will be supported to complete a Level 5 Diploma in Education if they do not already hold a recognised teaching qualification. Previous experience of teaching is also not required. Experience of mentoring apprentices, training colleagues or supporting others within the plumbing industry would be particularly beneficial, but ultimately we are looking for the right attitude, behaviours and enthusiasm to make a difference to young people.
What’s on Offer?
- Permanent, full-time position
- 37 hours per week
- £31,375 – £40,912 salary
- 48 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Teacher Pension Scheme
- 28.68% employer pension contribution
- Full support towards gaining a Level 5 Diploma in Education where required
- The opportunity to move from industry into a rewarding education career
- The chance to pass on your practical knowledge and experience to the next generation of plumbers
If you are an experienced Level 3 qualified plumber who is considering a move away from the tools and would enjoy the opportunity to train, mentor and inspire young people, we would be keen to hear from you.
