Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education? Do you have the resilience and sense of humour needed to engage with students in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting? We are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist PRU in Stockton. This role is full-time and expected to continue until the end of the academic year and beyond.
The Role
- Supporting students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion, helping them to re-engage with education
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a structured and supportive environment
- Building positive relationships to foster trust and motivation
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and working closely with teaching staff and external professionals
- Providing emotional and academic support to help students progress
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working with young people in an education, care, or support setting
- Understanding of behaviour management, mental health needs, and neurological conditions
- A resilient nature, positive attitude, and a good sense of humour
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- The ability to adapt to challenging situations and support students with a wide range of needs
While previous experience in a PRU or alternative provision is beneficial, we welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or similar backgrounds.
