Specialist Teacher - SEMH in Ashington

Contract: Full-time, term-time plus 3 days during school holidays

Salary: £120-£170 (depending on qualification and experience)

Are you a passionate, proactive teacher looking to make a real difference? Our agency is recruiting on behalf of a trauma-informed school with attached alternative provision, offering bespoke academic and therapeutic support for students with SEN, SEMH needs, or disrupted education. We welcome applications from teachers across a range of subjects, including English, Maths, arts, humanities, PE, technology, and PSHE/RSE. About the Role:

• Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching tailored to each student’s individual needs.
• Support learners who may be reluctant, vulnerable, or have experienced educational disruption, using creative, engaging, and trauma-informed strategies to build confidence, trust, and motivation.
• Deliver a broad, personalised curriculum that supports academic, social, and emotional progress.
• Differentiating learning and adapting teaching approaches for a wide range of abilities.
• Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and engagement.
• Work closely with colleagues to implement bespoke learning pathways aligned with the school curriculum.
• Supervise and collaborate with teaching assistants as needed.

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Have at least 3 years’ experience working with children with SEN or challenging behaviours.
• Are confident in behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches.
• Prioritise safeguarding and respond effectively to incidents.
• Are collaborative, organised, and committed to supporting a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Promote equality, diversity, and student wellbeing.

Working Hours:

Monday – Friday, term-time plus 3 days during school holidays. 40 hours per week, core hours 8:00am – 6:00pm; staff must be in-centre 9:00am – 3:00pm with additional duties completed during core hours.
