A Health & Social Care Teacher is sought for a specialist SEMH school in Birmingham, employed full time by The Education Network. The position carries a salary of Β£34,069 to Β£46,940 annually. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, practical lessons to small groups of pupils who have found mainstream education challenging, drawing on strong subject knowledge to build confidence and employability skills.
Key duties include managing behaviour effectively, forming positive relationships and adapting materials to individual needs. Applicants should demonstrate resilience, empathy and the ability to make health and social care relevant and inspiring for young people. Job Role
- Deliver engaging Health & Social Care lessons to small classes
- Plan and deliver lessons suited to students with SEMH needs
- Make learning practical, relevant and accessible
- Develop students' knowledge and understanding of Health & Social Care
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Adapt teaching to different abilities, needs and engagement levels
- Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
- Encourage students to develop confidence and independence
- Support students with their wider personal and educational development
- Work closely with colleagues to provide a consistent approach
Experience working with SEMH students, Alternative Provision or challenging behaviour is highly desirable. This role requires QTS or QTLS.
