A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BARTENDER AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of all Back of House areas, ensuring goods receiving, storage facilities, cellars and waste areas are organised, efficient and maintained to exceptional standards.
  • Oversee all deliveries, ensuring goods are received, checked, recorded and stored correctly in line with company procedures, brand standards and relevant legislation.
  • Take ownership of inventory and stock control, ensuring operating equipment, chemicals, cleaning materials and consumables are appropriately stocked and readily available to support the hotel's operations.
  • Manage stock rotation, storage and distribution processes to minimise waste, maintain quality and ensure products are efficiently available to the relevant departments.
  • Take overall responsibility for Health & Safety compliance across all Back of House operations, ensuring compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, COSHH and all relevant legislation.
  • Manage the ordering, storage and safe use of chemicals and cleaning products, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly.
  • Conduct regular departmental audits, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to maintain high operational and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team to ensure Back of House equipment and facilities are maintained in safe and effective working order.
  • Manage stock takes and investigate any variances, putting effective controls in place to minimise waste, loss and unnecessary expenditure.
  • Raise purchase orders and manage goods received documentation in partnership with the Finance team, ensuring accurate records and effective cost control.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments, ensuring quality, consistency and value across all goods and services.
  • Work collaboratively with Food & Beverage, Finance, Maintenance and Housekeeping teams to ensure the smooth flow of goods, equipment and services throughout the hotel.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organisation and presentation of all Back of House areas, ensuring they consistently meet the high standards expected within a Luxury Collection hotel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste and support the Director of Food & Beverage in achieving departmental and business KPIs.
  • Maintain a visible and hands-on presence within the operation, providing strong leadership and ensuring exceptional standards are achieved every day.
  • WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Experience in a Back of House, stores, inventory, goods receiving or operational management role within a hotel, hospitality or fast-paced environment.
  • A strong understanding of inventory management, stock control, purchasing and goods receiving procedures.
  • Good knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
  • Confidence in managing stock takes, investigating variances and identifying opportunities to improve cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and inventory or procurement systems. Experience using Procure Wizard would be an advantage.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a genuine passion for maintaining exceptional operational standards.
  • Experience within a luxury hotel or fast-paced restaurant environment would be advantageous.
  • A Level 3 Food Safety qualification would be desirable.

This role is based on a flexible shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, in line with business needs.

As our Back of House Manager, you will be expected to maintain a visible presence within the operation and lead from the front to ensure exceptional standards are always achieved.
