Operational Engineering and Fleet Management in the Rail Industry

My client is delivering and operating a world-class fleet of trains for the UK rail industry that will provide unbeatable performance, reliability, and value for money. They now require a Fleet Manager to provide operational engineering for the West Coast fleet which will require ownership and management of all business-as-usual fleet technical workstreams and effective fleet asset management of the fleet.
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for:
- Discharging the company’s engineering obligations, consents, and responsibilities in all operational dealings.
- Represent the company’s engineering interests in technical and key stakeholder forums.
- Work collaboratively with the Ops team to ensure optimum operational performance and service delivery.
- Proactively lead and manage the company’s interests in fleet asset condition, completing and reporting on Asset Inspections to the senior management team.
- Ensure technical decisions made regarding the Fleets are considered in a timely manner, liaising where required with colleagues where impacts are arising are identified and are required to be managed.
- Advising on risks, opportunities, contractual and commercial considerations arising from technical changes or developments.
The successful candidate will:
- Qualified Electrical/Mechanical/Software Engineer.
- Knowledge of the Railway, Motor, Aviation, Mass transportation or aerospace industry preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the rest of the team and extensive stakeholders.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a self-starter, able to work under own initiative.
- An enthusiasm to drive business and and performance improvement.
- Ideally have knowledge of UK railway regulations
