Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Head of Content to support our 2026 brand goals. This strategic role covers several key areas, including content production, social media strategy, creator content strategy, stakeholder management, and working closely with direct reports and our wider Earthshot team.
The Head of Content will ensure that we create relevant content that reaches our target audiences primarily across our owned and earned channels digital channels, as well as through media, TV and OOH opportunities as needed. From brainstorm to production to final QA, they will fully own the content needs of the storytelling team. Alongside production, they will support our Senior Social Media Manager with the social strategy for our owned channels, and our Digital Coordinator across talent and creator activity. Our Finalists are the core of our storytelling, and our Head of Content must obsess their stories in order to bring them to our global audience.
They will work closely with the Digital Manager, responsible for our website, eNews and reporting strategy. They will brief to and work alongside our Creative team, including graphic designers and video editors, ensuring content is relevant and at the highest standard. They will recruit freelance individuals and teams to support production needs in the UK and in India. They will report to the Creative Director, delivering on strategic goals and communicating the needs of the team as well as insights from content performance.
Crucially, they will work with the Head of Communications to ensure all press and digital content is aligned – finding opportunities to amplify opportunities through smart strategic lifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy:
- Work alongside the Creative Director and Executive Director of Communications to develop strategic campaigns. Covering creative ideation, production, publication planning, channel strategy, and syndication strategy to deliver cohesive and effective digital campaigns.
- Work alongside the Creative Director and Senior Social Media Manager to develop always-on digital content that inspires our audience and drives them to act.
- Develop and execute owned channel strategies, growing our audience and delivering relevant content across multiple platforms.
Content Production:
- Working closely with the Creative dept to steward the digital art direction of Earthshot social content, and briefing in-house campaigns.
- Build full freelance teams to deliver on large scale production work, for instance content across the Earthshot Prize Summit in Mumbai. Including outlining production scope, reviewing and securing staff, managing teams to deliver quality content within deadline. Freelance teams will include production (eg editors, photographers) and digital/social staff (eg social media managers, copywriters).
- Manage any production agencies that may support on larger scale productions, briefing appropriately, holding account to deadlines, and being final QA on creative elements.
- Lead content brainstorms with the digital team, briefing them on the opportunity and refining ideas to take through to delivery.
- Manage production budgets in line with department budgets and ensure invoicing is delivered on-time and clearly tracked.
Social media channel strategy:
- Support the Senior Social Media Manager with the social media strategy for The Earthshot Prize owned organic channels (including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn).
- Support the Social Media Manager in leading the content calendar and delivering content within our always on cadence.
- Ensure a thorough QA of all content going live occurs, with a razor-sharp eye for detail.
- Track trends to find content opportunities and use data-led insights to shape our content output.
Creator Management:
- Support the Digital Coordinator across Creator Management across the year, including:
- Support with paid Creator opportunities: selecting relevant Creators, briefing, managing and delivering quality content that supports our digital strategy.
- Support the organic content relationships with relevant Creators.
- Ensure reporting on Creator content is tracked and benchmarks are clearly set and reported on for each campaign.
- Manage Creator production budgets in line with department budgets and ensure invoicing is delivered on-time and clearly tracked.
Stakeholder and Partner Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, seeking out collaborative opportunities and being accountable for deliverables and outcomes.
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to stay across events and activation calendars, finding opportunities to cross-post and deliver productions.
- Supporting our Finalists and Portfolio’s digital queries and ensuring their stories are at the heart of our content output.
Management and Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Line management of 2 x staff, Senior Social Media Manager and Digital Coordinator. Support these reports to deliver on key projects, expand their skillsets and connect them to the wider business, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are delivered at a high quality.
- Work closely with the wider digital team on channel calendars, creative content, copywriting needs, and overall campaign alignment, ensuring our website, eNews and Blog channels are always working alongside our social media.
- Stay connected to the Partnerships, Prize and Fellowship teams to source updates and news stories and to produce digital content.
Candidate Criteria:
- 10+ years of experience in social media marketing and content production, either in-house or at an agency.
- Experience in leading on production needs –working with in-house teams, creative agencies and building freelance teams for larger productions.
- Demonstrated strategy leadership for high performing social media channels, delivering on audience growth and content engagement.
- Understanding of the Creator landscape and experience in briefing, managing and delivering high quality Creator content with international Creators.
- An exceptional eye for detail and high standards for content quality.
- Great stakeholder management skills, delivering greater results borne of warm relationships.
- Experience managing staff and leading teams on key projects – holding to account on deadlines and results.
