The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving and gain their Category C1 (7.5 t) licence. The apprenticeship will prepare them for a full‑time 7.5 t driver position within DX upon completion.
Responsibilities
- Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
- Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
- Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements.
- Perform all daily checks, reporting defects immediately and completing correct paperwork.
- Scan all products using DX scanning equipment.
- Ensure all deliveries are loaded safely before leaving the depot.
- Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
- Manage routing to achieve premium and timed deliveries.
- Maintain and use correct equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
- Ensure customers receive their deliveries in excellent condition.
- Handle any customer issues politely and effectively.
Qualifications
- Apprentices must be 18 years or older, have a minimum of 12 months of UK driving experience, and possess a Category B licence.
- As part of the programme, apprentices will obtain a CPC licence and a Category C1 (7.5 t) licence.
