Reporting Structure: Reports To Director of Accounting
Purpose of the Role: The Financial Controller will support the Director of Accounting in the day-to-day financial management of Neighborly Brands. The role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring regulatory and tax compliance, and providing financial insight to support business planning and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations & Reporting: Manage the weekly distribution of cash collected across the network. Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to the parent company reporting timetable. Produce monthly management accounts with insightful commentary on business performance. Prepare and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) covering sales, costs, profitability, working capital, and productivity. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the balance sheet through robust controls and reconciliations.
- Business Support & Financial Leadership: Provide financial guidance and advice across the business. Deliver financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and performance evaluation. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to improve financial understanding and decision-making. Support other brands as required.
- Statutory Reporting & Audit: Take responsibility for year-end reporting and coordination of the external audit. Prepare UK GAAP statutory accounts and oversee the preparation of tax computations. Act as the primary point of contact for parent company auditors and other regulatory bodies.
- Tax & Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory tax returns. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- General Responsibilities: Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
Experience: Proven experience operating in a Financial Controller role or similar senior finance position. Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Experience within a services or contracting-based organisation is preferred.
Skills / Knowledge: Demonstrate coaching and mentoring capabilities to assist, motivate and influence members of the finance team. D365 F&O experience is advantageous and an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite, with advanced Excel skills. Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial control expertise. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
