An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reliable and hardworking Laundry & Housekeeping Team Member to join the team at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel as we prepare to reopen this iconic Plymouth hotel. This is more than a traditional laundry role. While caring for the hotel’s bedroom and restaurant linen will be your main responsibility, you will also be part of the wider housekeeping team. During busy periods or to cover absence, you may support with cleaning guest bedrooms and public areas.
You will play an important part in maintaining the high standards our guests expect, ensuring that linen is clean, professionally presented and ready when it is needed across the hotel. We are provisionally planning to reopen rooms at the hotel at the beginning of November 2026 and will be looking for a start date around mid October. Please be aware that this date may change as our reopening plans progress, and we will keep successful candidates updated throughout the recruitment process.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LAUNDRY & HOUSEKEEPING TEAM MEMBER AT OUR HOTEL
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Sorting, washing, drying, folding and ironing bedroom sheets, pillowcases and towels
- Laundering and pressing restaurant table linen to achieve a crisp, professional finish
- Safely operating industrial washing machines, commercial dryers and rotary ironers
- Inspecting linen and towels for stains, damage, wear and tear
- Recording damaged or unusable items to support accurate stock control
- Organising clean linen so it is ready for the housekeeping and restaurant teams
- Keeping the laundry room clean, tidy, hygienic and safe
- Following all health and safety, manual-handling and chemical-handling procedures
- Supporting room attendants with cleaning guest bedrooms when required
- Assisting with the cleaning of public areas during busy periods or to cover absence
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience operating industrial washing machines, commercial dryers and ironers or presses would be an advantage
- A good understanding of laundry processes and fabric care
- High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail
- The ability to identify stained, damaged or worn linen
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to work efficiently and manage the daily demands of bedroom and restaurant operations
- A flexible and supportive approach to working as part of the wider housekeeping team
- The physical ability to lift and move laundry bags and remain standing for extended periods
- A reliable approach and the confidence to work independently
