Hours (Based on average work week, can be affected by private events):
40hrs per week. Wed-Sun. 1 evening shift off per week shared with GM.
Friday – Saturday: 10am – 11pm
Sunday: 10am – 8pm
From 29K-31K, dependant on experience.

Role Description
The Assistant General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Dockyard Social in Glasgow. This role supports the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the venue, ensuring all corporate events, private hires and regular service periods are delivered to a high standard. Key responsibilities include supervising front-of-house operations, coordinating with street food traders and bar teams, overseeing event set-up and breakdown, and maintaining health and safety, licensing and compliance standards. The Assistant General Manager will support staff scheduling, training and performance, handle guest and client inquiries, and help resolve operational issues during live events. The role also involves working closely with the events team on planning and logistics, monitoring stock and supplier relationships, contributing to revenue and cost control, and upholding Dockyard’s reputation for engaging, well-run experiences.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or bar management, including supervising front-of-house operations.
- Strong people management skills, with experience in team leadership.
- Operational and organisational skills, including venue coordination, logistics planning, attention to detail and problem-solving under pressure.
- Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive client relationships and manage guest feedback in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of health and safety, licensing, and compliance requirements relevant to hospitality and events environments.
- Commercial awareness, including basic budgeting, cost control, stock management and an understanding of revenue drivers in a busy venue.
- Comfort working evenings and weekends as required by event schedules; reliable, hands-on and adaptable in a high-energy environment.
- Previous experience in a similar Assistant General Manager, Duty Manager or senior supervisor role is desirable but not essential.
