We are seeking an inspirational and thoughtful person to join our dynamic team at West Heath House. Brainkind is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support recovery and personal goal achievement.

The Service: West Heath House supports individuals with cognitive, physical, and emotional symptoms following severe brain injury. Rehabilitation is based on a neurobehavioral approach focusing on enabling independence and participation while respecting privacy and dignity.

The Role: As a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide strategic, professional leadership within our multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include:

  • Working autonomously as a speech and language therapist within the team.
  • Assessing how communication impacts daily life and providing appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborating with clients and their social networks to overcome barriers.
  • Assessing communication needs and developing management and rehabilitation plans, seeking specialist assessments as needed.
  • Training staff and service users' social networks.
  • Contributing to service and organizational development.

About You: We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Are registered with the HCPC.
  • Have achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
  • Possess specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI, such as social communication, cognitive communication, and communication partner training.
  • Can manage complex dysphagia within an adult neurology caseload.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years qualified experience, including complex case management.
