Bugthorpe Church of England Primary School is a brilliant school family. We are federated with Sutton upon Derwent Church of England Primary School and have staff that work across both sites. We share our Executive Headteacher, SENCo, Business Manager and Environmental Tutor (Gardening and Forest Schools Teacher). We work together as one to deliver a creative curriculum that inspires our pupils to ‘follow their pathways and grow with confidence’. Both schools received a ‘Good’ Ofsted Inspection in 2022; Bugthorpe received a very positive SIAMS inspection report in November 2023.
Our Federation: follow a shared curriculum; have staff meetings together on Microsoft Teams, to share planning, resources and best practice; work in Subject Leadership Teams together across the Federation; share a school minibus which we utilise for educational visits, and to visit each other’s class in the sister school; share policies and procedures. All of this collaborative work enables both pupils and adults to flourish in our small, rural schools.
Our Class system: Class 1 (Nursery and Reception); Class 2 (Years 1 and 2); Class 3 (Years 3 and 4) and Class 4 (Years 5 and 6). This job is to be the Class Teacher in our Year 5 and 6 classroom.
