St Luke’s, Sydney Street, is one of London’s finest Victorian Gothic churches, serving a vibrant Chelsea parish with a wide civic and national profile. We are looking for a Verger who will be a reliable, welcoming presence at the heart of church life — someone who understands instinctively that a well-cared-for building and a warm human welcome are themselves acts of ministry.

This is a permanent, part-time role of 15 hours per week, suited to someone with a practical disposition, a flexible approach to hours, and a genuine commitment to the Church of England’s mission and worship.

The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults through the use of the Safer Recruitment practice guidance. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check.

The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
