ASLAN Faith and Volunteer Network (FVN) Night Shelter 26/27 is an innovative project for individuals rough sleeping in Westminster, offering communal setting emergency accommodation. The shelter will run for a minimum of 6 months, from the beginning of October to the end of March, with a possible extension to the end of June. Various churches contribute in different ways.

Each venue will offer individualised companionship and support whilst the guests (re)engage with St Mungos and Westminster Council, pursue Council-directed solutions for the short term, and explore long term housing solutions. Guests will initially be assessed by St Mungo’s as low risk (without mental health or addiction issues), but may be "high need" and will then be referred to the Communal Setting. For example, they may have a complex immigration status, be waiting for the outcome of an asylum appeal or they may have been offered government support elsewhere in the UK or at another time, but failed to engage with it due to language, cultural or community barriers.

The Shelter Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of the project. The role will be supported by 4 Relief Coordinators in order to cover all morning and night shifts, seven days a week for the duration of the Shelter run. The Shelter manager will be employed by All Souls Serve the City, the coordinating venue.

Location: All Souls Clubhouse, 141 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 6QG, and other faith-based Communal Setting locations in Westminster and Camden.

Hours: Guaranteed minimum 7 hours per week (Requires regular early morning and evening shifts (likely to be 7.15-9.15am and 6.15pm to 9.45pm), including at weekends and over the Christmas and Easter periods.)

Dates: TBC (subject to dates being confirmed by Westminster Council).

There is an occupational requirement that the job-holder is a Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

Safeguarding: conditional offers will be made pending the successful completion of an enhanced DBS check which will be processed by All Souls Serve the City. The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults through the use of the Safer Recruitment practice guidance. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check.

The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
