Great career potential opportunity!
The Organisation
TDRC are excited to be with one of the UK’s leading financial advice and wealth management firms dedicated to making financial planning and advice radically easier and clearer.
Last year, they launched an MVP of a digital account for their clients/investors and a new portal for their financial advisers. Since then, they’ve built an in-house software development team to expand their digital offering.
Established in 2004 they have grown rapidly through bringing smaller IFA firms into the fold to become a stronger and larger firm. Through their robust infrastructure, cutting edge technology, and exceptional support, they are delivering an excellent and reliable service to their continuously expanding client base. With 22,000 core clients in a highly regulated industry, they are proud to be providing them with the utmost level of quality and security in everything they do.
This is your opportunity to be an integral part of their continuous improvement and growth in this new role.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a curious and enthusiastic Product Designer to take their investor accountand adviser portal to the next level.
The team currently includes a Product Manager, Head of IT (also Technical Lead), three Front-End Developers, two Back-End/Full-Stack Developers, and one Test Engineer.
They’re now looking for a permanent Product Designer to help us craft high-quality digital experiences for both clients and advisers.
You are
- User-focused – You deeply empathise with users, observing their behaviour, listening to their needs, and designing experiences that solve real problems.
- Collaborative – You enjoy working closely with Product Managers and Developers, discussing user problems and brainstorming solutions.
- Independent & Adaptable – As their first permanent designer, you can work autonomously while receiving feedback, mentoring and support from the Product Manager and Technical Lead.
- A Continuous Learner – You believe that products (and designers) are never finished and constantly look for ways to improve your work and your skills.
- Pragmatic – You aim for high-quality design but balance speed and perfection, delivering at speed and iterating based on user usage and feedback.
- Data-Informed – Not Data-Paralysed – You use insights to guide your decisions but don’t wait for 100% certainty before taking action.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design process – from research and ideation to wireframing, prototyping, UI design, and developer hand-off.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to turn business objectives and user needs into compelling design solutions.
- Conduct or co-lead user research (e.g., user interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiries, analytics reviews) to identify problems and opportunities.
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts to the team, stakeholders, and users.
- Work closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility and assist during implementation.
- Maintain and contribute to a design system for consistency across products.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and UX best practices to continuously refine our design approach.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Product or UX design.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, etc.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating user-centric design projects—more than just beautiful UIs, we want to see how you solve user problems.
- Independent & adaptable – While the team has UX experience, you’ll be the only dedicated designer, so you must be comfortable owning your craft.
- Great communicator: skills both verbal and written, willingness to speak directly to our stakeholders including clients and financial advisers.
- Some user research experience (or a strong willingness to learn) – e.g., usability testing, interviews, contextual observation, but also analytics and user recording tools, such as Hotjar, Google Analytics, Heap, etc.
- Comfortable working with developers – You understand front-end development principles and constraints (basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or React is a bonus).
- Experience designing (preferably financial) data visualisations and data-based digital products including dashboards, charts, reports.
- Experience working in financial services or FinTech would be a bonus (personal finance, wealth management, etc.)
- Experience using FinTech and WealthTech products would also be advantageous, but not essential
- Experience or understanding of accessible design principles and the ability to follow accessibility guidelines, such as those outlined in the Equality Act. You should be mindful of considerations for users with disabilities, including colour blindness and reading difficulties, and strive to meet AAA Compliance standards for high accessibility.
