The Role
Our client are on a mission to scale, innovate, and make an impact, and they need a Chief Marketing Officer who’s ready to dive in, roll up their sleeves, and get things done. If you’re a strategic thinker, passionate leader, strong generalist and a hands-on marketing expert who knows how to make waves and refine a polished and impactful brand, this could be your dream role.
As their CMO, you’ll lead all things marketing—from brand and demand generation to product marketing, PR, and events. As a team already sourcing 60% of new business revenue, there’s a lot of success to build upon!
You’ll manage the marketing team, build their brand strategy, and support our business, sales and customer teams. Your focus will be to drive growth and bring their brand to life, with a big-picture vision and all the detail needed to make it happen.
Key Responsibilities
- Brand strategy
- Own the brand vision, demand and strategy, making a brand people recognise, trust, and connect with.
- Develop and execute a brand strategy that spans all channels, elevating our presence not only in our sector but as a SaaS leader.
- Lead creative, messaging, tone of voice and impactful campaigns that reinforce the brand values, and product messaging and tell our story.
- Awards & PR
- Strategically target, apply for and secure awards that raise our people’s profiles, drive awareness of our brand and celebrate our customers.
- Develop and execute PR strategies alongside our agency to keep the company in the spotlight, managing press releases, media relations, and thought leadership.
- Build relationships with media, trade, analysts and industry influencers to drive coverage and buzz.
- Demand generation, inbound marketing
- Work with our Head of Digital Marketing to drive our demand gen and inbound strategies to attract, engage, and convert new leads.
- Develop campaigns and tactics that increase inbound traffic, nurture leads, and support our growth targets.
- Leverage digital, content and customer-powered marketing to build our pipeline and optimise conversion.
- Events & exhibitions
- Work with our Campaigns and Events Manager to develop our events strategy and ensure our client makes the biggest splash at exhibitions and conferences.
- Oversee event planning, promotion, and execution, aligning with our brand and business objectives.
- Collaborate with sales and customer teams to align marketing activities with business goals and product and service offerings.
- Create tools, content and campaigns that empower sales and enhance the prospect to renewal experience.
- Develop messaging, collateral and resources that equip teams to effectively promote and sell our products and services.
- Product marketing
- Work closely with product teams and our Customer and Product Marketing Manager to develop go-to-market strategies for new products and features.
- Create product messaging and positioning that speaks to customer needs and differentiates us in the market.
- Own the communication strategy for new innovation and all releases.
- Execute product launch campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and adoption.
- Marketing team management
- Lead, motivate and support a high-performing marketing team with tangible objectives.
- Create a collaborative, creative environment that brings out the best in each team member.
- Set clear goals, track progress, and ensure delivery of key KPIs across all marketing activities.
- Customer Marketing & Retention
- Develop and implement a customer marketing strategy that drives advocacy, engagement, and retention.
- Create campaigns and programs that reward customer loyalty and deepen relationships.
- Use insights and data to understand customer needs and ensure we’re continuously adding value to the customer experience.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record in building and executing brand and demand gen strategies.
- Strong writing skills—you’re a natural and creative storyteller who knows how to create copy and messaging that cuts through.
- A hands-on, detailed approach—you’re ready to dive into projects without hesitation.
- Solid background in either learning technology and/or SaaS.
- A strategic, growth-focused mindset with a knack for managing competing priorities across your own heavy workload and the teams.
- Experience leading teams, with a collaborative approach that inspires.
- Staying calm, cool and collaborative under pressure.
