Newcastle · hybrid Full-time · permanent Competitive, DOE Paid Search team
Senior, hands-on the accounts - not managing from a distance.
This is a senior, hands-on role .
You'll own a portfolio of paid search accounts across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, and be accountable for what they deliver: profitable growth, not ROAS theatre.
You'll set the strategy, build the structure, and stay close enough to the detail to know exactly why a number moved.
- You'll work directly with clients
- marketing leaders at growing and established brands - explaining the work in plain English and earning the right to do more of it.
There's no account-management layer between you and the people you're doing the work for.
And because sharing what we know is part of how we work, you'll help raise the standard of the executives around you - through QA, frameworks, and the conversations that make a whole team sharper.
What you'll do
The day-to-day.
- Own a portfolio of paid search accounts, accountable for performance against revenue and margin - not vanity metrics.
- Build intent-led account structures and keyword strategies that scale without losing control.
- Run smart bidding deliberately - the right strategy, the right signals, tied to the outcomes that matter.
- Lead client relationships and reporting, explaining what's working and what you'd do next in plain English.
- Set and hold QA and testing standards across the accounts you touch.
- Work with our analytics team on measurement, server-side and signal quality, so bidding learns from clean data.
- Spot the growth opportunities others miss - new structure, new markets, new channels - and make the case for them.
- Mentor executives and help lift the standard of the wider team.
What we're looking for
What you'll likely bring.
- Several years running Google Ads hands-on, ideally agency-side, across ecommerce and/or lead generation.
- Genuinely strong on account structure, intent-led keyword strategy and smart bidding.
- Comfortable owning client relationships and leading the conversation - not just the spreadsheet.
- Numerate and commercial: you connect spend to revenue and margin, and explain the trade-offs.
- A clear communicator who can make a complex setup make sense to a non-specialist.
- Confident with GA4 and how measurement feeds performance.
- Real depth in Shopping and Performance Max.
- Exposure to server-side tracking and Consent Mode v2.
- Experience mentoring or line-managing junior team members.
- A point of view on where paid search is heading - and the evidence behind it.
