PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is a newly created, cross‑functional role responsible for building and owning BritBox’s photography and imagery capability from the ground up. Blending creative vision with technical expertise, the role will establish a centralised, scalable approach to photo asset management, approvals and distribution across MarComms, BBC Select and BBC Studios. WHY JOIN THE TEAM

BritBox is a fast-growing, global streaming business and an exciting area of growth within the BBC Studios portfolio. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape a brand‑new capability at scale, with genuine ownership and impact. You’ll collaborate with creative and technical teams across BBC Studios London and BritBox New York, working in a hybrid, forward‑thinking environment that values innovation, creativity and cross‑functional leadership.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Own and manage all BritBox photography assets across originals and acquisitions, acting as the central point of accountability.
  • Partner with unit photographers, unit publicists and talent representatives to guide shoots, manage full takes, editing, retouching and secure talent approvals.
  • Curate, assess and deliver imagery that meets the needs of marketing, publicity and creative teams, aligned to BritBox brand and key art guidelines.
  • Lead integration with BBC Studios’ Media Asset Management systems and establish BritBox’s Digital Asset Management platform as the central, secure repository for finished assets.
  • Define storage, metadata, watermarking, embargo and usage controls, with region-, department- and partner-based access management.
  • Manage incoming acquisition imagery, tracking embargoes, rollout plans and usage restrictions.
  • Own the Publicity Media Site, ensuring accurate, timely distribution of press‑ready assets via controlled external access.
  • Drive system integrations and scalable workflows across Digital Asset Management, internal platforms and external partners to support future growth.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Significant experience in photography, photo management or Digital Asset Management leadership within a media, entertainment or communications environment.
  • Proven experience building photography or asset management functions, processes and workflows from the ground up.
  • Strong understanding of unit photography, talent approvals, publicity and media requirements, with the confidence to edit, curate and advise on imagery.
  • Hands‑on experience with photo editing, retouching, DAM systems, metadata, access controls and embargoes.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a proactive self‑starter, owning their agenda within a matrixed, multi‑location organisation.
  • Excellent senior‑level stakeholder management skills, including working across marketing, press, publicity and creative teams in complex or political environments.
  • Highly organised, with experience creating calendars, trackers and scalable approval workflows to support creative delivery.
