The UK Parliament is seeking a Heritage Collections Information Assistant to join the Strategic Estates team, supporting the professional management of three nationally and internationally significant collections: the Parliamentary Art Collection, Historic Furniture and Decorative Arts, and Architectural Fabric. You will help improve and streamline collection documentation, support data cleansing, and prepare data for migration to a new Collections Management System (CMS). You’ll work independently and collaboratively across the Parliamentary Estate and storage facilities, ensuring information is accurate, standardised, and aligned with SPECTRUM documentation standards. This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a mix of on-site and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Support the professional management of the Parliamentary Art Collection, Historic Furniture and Decorative Arts, and Architectural Fabric.
- Improve and streamline collection documentation and support data cleansing for CMS migration.
- Work independently and collaboratively across the Parliamentary Estate and storage facilities.
- Ensure information is accurate, standardised, and aligned with SPECTRUM documentation standards.
Qualifications
- Experience working with collections documentation in a museum, historic building or heritage institution.
- Experience using heritage sector collections management software.
- Strong understanding of documentation standards (SPECTRUM) across diverse object types.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
- Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Understanding of rights management principles.
