Beyond clinical leadership, the successful applicant will have the prestigious opportunity to be appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS) – an esteemed recognition of their contribution to teaching and research. This honorary title grants access to university premises, facilities, systems, and library services, enabling you to further enrich your academic and professional journey. Main duties of the job:

  • We seek a Full time Consultant in Diabetic and Endocrine Medicine to enhance our team of consultants.
  • The Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology is managed within the Specialist Medicine Care Group.
  • Both Diana Princess of Wales Hospital (DPoW) & Scunthorpe General Hospital (SGH) have independently functioning units.
  • Each unit delivers specialised diabetes services which include specialised diabetes clinics, pump clinics, young adult clinic, transition clinic, foot clinic and Joint Antenatal Clinics.
  • Both units also provide general endocrine clinics, Radioiodine Clinic with MDT liaison with the referral centres (HUTH & Sheffield).
  • Each unit is supported with a full-fledged multidisciplinary team including Podiatrist, Specialist Dietitian and Diabetes Specialist Nurses.
  • Inpatient beds are located on both sites providing Diabetes, Endocrine and General Internal Medicine.
  • Dynamic endocrine investigations are undertaken on the Planned investigation unit at SGH and on the Diagnostic unit at DPoW.
  • Nuclear medicine and DEXA Scans are undertaken at DPoW.
  • Tertiary referral service is provided for Endocrinology by both HUTH and Sheffield Teaching hospital with participation in the MDT meetings.
