The primary aim of this post is to provide advanced tertiary-level training in paediatric endocrinology to applicants with prior experience in the specialty. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and may include overseas trainees with relevant paediatric endocrine experience who are currently working within the NHS, or individuals who are fully trained in paediatrics (CCT) or have completed at least ST6 level training (or equivalent), with exposure to endocrinology.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute effectively within a large, progressive multidisciplinary team and support the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality endocrinology and diabetes care at BCH, in line with leading European standards. Depending on prior experience, the role may be undertaken as a post-CCT fellowship or as an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE), with a duration of 1-2 years. The post is designed to provide substantial support for further subspecialty training in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes.
Main duties of the job include:
- Developing expertise in endocrinology and diabetes, including all aspects of tertiary endocrinology and bone disease.
- Gaining practical knowledge of paediatric diabetes education and intensive diabetes management.
- Performing audits and delivering on CPD.
- Engaging in teaching and clinical research activities, including opportunities to be involved in ongoing clinical research through CRF.
- Sharing in the provision of the outpatient service for Endocrinology and Diabetes.
- Contributing to inpatient care provision and supporting medical staff on the Medical Day Care Unit.
- Rotating clinical duties with the registrars in the department.
