A Japan-headquartered AAA mobile game studio is expanding its team because of huge new funding and some very big upcoming releases that need to be worked on. With over 2 million daily players, they’re building sophisticated, large-scale titles that combine creativity, data-driven design, and cutting-edge tech.
They are looking for multiple Senior Unity Engineers (or Staff/Principal level) to join remotely from the UK or Europe, with huge preference towards those keen to relocate to Japan in the medium term. You’ll work on new features, gameplay systems, and live event infrastructure, collaborating with teams in Japan, the US, and India.
About the Role
You’ll take ownership of key features from design through to launch. Projects include:
- Core gameplay and logic systems
- Level and character development
- UI and live event systems
- Performance optimization and profiling
You’ll report to the Tech Director and join a 16-person global engineering team.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ Unity experience (mobile, console, or XR)
- Shipped at least one live game
- Proficiency with Asset Bundles/Addressables, Unity Profiler, Frame Debugger
- Clean, scalable coding habits
- Understanding of free-to-play game systems and player behavior
- Collaborative, flexible, and excited about building large-scale games
Compensation & Benefits
£60k – £110k GBP depending on experience. Equity options available. Remote from the UK, with overlap in Japan/US time zones. Visa sponsorship and relocation support to Japan.
