The Design Partnership (Ely) Ltd is a small, local company based in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire that specialises in providing architectural, quantity surveying, project management and SAP services to the leading registered providers across the Eastern region and the Midlands. Being part of a multi-disciplinary practice, you will be part of a professional team where support will be given.

We are looking for a full time or a part time Clerk of Works or a person with the desire to become a Clerk of Works from a trade background. The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Understand the key aspects of health & safety
  • Provide professional inspection services and technical support to our clients
  • Manage the programme delivery and inspection services of multiple construction sites
  • Communicate well with clients, contractors and other consultants

Experience

  • Sound knowledge and experience within the construction industry but consideration will be given for the right candidate
  • Broad knowledge of construction essential
  • An understanding of architectural and project technical requirements is desirable, but full training will be given to the right candidate
  • An understanding of current building regulations and other regulatory documents and procedures within the construction industry is desirable, but full training will be given to the right candidate

Qualifications

  • CSCS card holder desirable – training can be supplied if required
  • HNC or equivalent is desirable, but not required as training can be provided for the right candidate
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Competent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel, although further training will be offered to the right candidate

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Review contract documentation including drawings, specifications, and contract conditions.
  • Inspect construction works for compliance with contract documentation, contract instructions and good practice.
  • Provide a comprehensive, well-structured report following each site visit to document site progress, and to highlight any design/build issues that have been raised during the visit to assist with the administration of the contract.
  • Inspect construction works for compliance with statutory regulations e.g. Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act and Control of Asbestos Regulations.
  • Liaise with clients throughout the build process from inception to handover.
  • Liaise with residents to address areas of concerns from the point of handover to the remedial end of 12-month defect period.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings as a client representative.
