The Deluxe Group are seeking to appoint a Head of Design, with a proven track record of leading an effective design team and managing all aspects of design from concept through to completion. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in various sectors from Marine, Themed Attractions, Fit Out & Bespoke Joinery.
The Role:
- Demonstrate effective leadership and direction to a team of designers to ensure successful delivery of detailed production drawings as per the technical requirements, client specifications and contractual obligations of allocated projects.
- Develop and maintain a design programme for multiple projects in line with the overall project milestones.
- Co-ordinate the entire design process to enable effective delivery of drawings for client sign off and production purposes.
- Resource planning - ensure optimum use of all resources available to enable successful delivery of the design Programme.
- Develop and upskill the design team to their full potential.
- Develop a continuous improvement mindset amongst the team.
- Understand and effectively communicate project requirements including client briefs & technical details.
- Develop standardised working processes and compliance to retain a high performing team.
- Organise and chair design co-ordination and design progress meetings with the design team and production.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Ensure effective communication amongst all stakeholders including clients, Project Managers, Production & Site Install Team.
- Develop & manage team performance across the design function.
- Oversee the document control process, supported by a Document Controller.
Who are we looking for?
- 7+ years experience of people management within a similar design environment.
- Third level qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related built-environment discipline.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a can-do and collaborative approach.
- Enthusiastic team player, able to listen, understand, engage and motivate, and with confidence to make decisions when required.
- A desire to constantly learn, improve and share knowledge and experience.
- A thorough understanding of both the design and manufacturing processes, and the interface between them.
- Good collaborative planning skills.
- Thorough understanding of 3D design and BIM, with a desire to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level.
