The Deluxe Group are seeking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to head up our Fit Out Division with a proven track record of leading & developing a high performing design team and managing the design process from concept through to completion within a fast paced fit out and manufacturing environment.
The Role
- Provide effective leadership and direction to the design team to ensure the successful delivery of detailed production drawings in line with technical requirements, client specifications and contractual obligations.
- Develop and manage design programmes across multiple projects to align with overall project milestones.
- Coordinate the full design process to ensure timely delivery of drawings for client approval and production.
- Plan and manage design resources to ensure optimum utilisation and successful delivery of project design programmes.
- Mentor, develop and upskill the design team to maximise performance and capability.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the design function.
- Interpret and clearly communicate project requirements, including client briefs, specifications and technical details.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations and standards, including CDM requirements and applicable fire safety and building regulations.
- Develop and maintain standardised design processes to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency.
- Organise and chair design coordination and progress meetings with design, production and project teams.
- Prepare and present design progress reports.
- Ensure effective communication across all stakeholders including clients, Project Managers, Production and Site Installation teams.
- Manage performance and output across the design department.
- Oversee document control processes in collaboration with the Document Controller.
Who We Are Looking For
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Design Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years experience managing people within a design team in a similar environment.
- Strong leadership and management capability with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
- A confident and engaging communicator who can motivate teams and make informed decisions when required.
- A proactive mindset with a strong desire to learn, improve and share knowledge.
- A solid understanding of interior design including the relationship between design, client & installation.
- Strong planning and coordination skills across multiple projects.
- Experience working and/or directing with 3D design software and BIM processes, with an interest in driving innovation and improvement.
- Good working knowledge of CDM regulations, fire safety standards and relevant building regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and formal reporting.
