We are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join our growing team, based at our Head Office in Portadown. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the success of our procurement operations and support the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services across our projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of the company’s procurement strategy and policies.
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities in line with internal processes and budget requirements.
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services in line with project demands.
- Raise and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Liaise with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure value for money.
- Monitor and track deliveries to ensure timely arrival and escalate issues where necessary.
- Maintain accurate procurement records using the company’s electronic document management system.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Preferred Supplier List and identify alternative sources as needed.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual requirements throughout the procurement process.
- Work closely with the Finance Team on invoicing, pricing, and payment queries.
The Ideal Person:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a procurement or buying role, ideally within a similar industry.
- Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent experience in procurement, supply chain, or business.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and organised approach to workload management.
- Good commercial awareness and ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and comfortable using procurement or ERP systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently where required.
