The Manchester Deansgate Hotel is on the lookout for a dynamic Kitchen Porter Manager (Chief Steward) to inspire and lead. Join the excitement and become part of the IHG Hotels and Resorts family!
As a Kitchen Porter Manager (Chief Steward), your day-to-day will be driven by our Guests' needs, however you can expect to cover the following duties and responsibilities (not all encompassing):
- Lead, train and supervise the Kitchen Porter team to ensure smooth daily operations
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and back-of-house areas
- Manage pot wash, dishwashing and waste disposal processes efficiently
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and food hygiene regulations (e.g. HACCP)
- Control stock levels of cleaning chemicals, equipment and disposables
- Coordinate with chefs and front-of-house teams to support service delivery
- Oversee equipment handling, reporting faults and arranging repairs with the Maintenance team where needed
- Manage staff rotas, attendance and performance within the stewarding team
- Drive continuous improvement in cleanliness standards and operational efficiency

- Proven experience in a similar Chief Steward or Kitchen Porter Supervisor role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
- Good understanding of health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a positive attitude
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
