Job Summary

We are looking for a dependable and adaptable Site Manager working out of British Steel Scunthorpe and as part of our Site Services Team. This role involves carrying out maintenance tasks as listed below and being part of the Call Out Rota to offer out of hours maintenance to the local steel-plants in our area. This role involves supporting the Site Service Team, maintaining the facility, and taking on various responsibilities to ensure smooth operations. Some prior experience is necessary but full training is provided, making this an excellent opportunity to develop skills and grow your career in engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Health & Safety:
    • Follow all safety protocols and ensure proper use of PPE.
    • Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
  2. Repair and maintain engineering equipment on site.
  3. Operate engineering equipment on site.
  4. Stock control of all spare parts on site.
  5. Assemble refractory products on site.
  6. Conduct weekly stock takes of all Monocon/IFGL products.
  7. Monitor all Monocon/IFGL products.
  8. Assist in trials of all Monocon/IFGL products.
  9. Complete daily/weekly/monthly report on product performance.
  10. Attend meetings at Monocon (Safety, Sales, trial, etc.).
  11. Attend meetings at Scunthorpe with British Steel personnel.
  12. Liaise with British Steel at all levels.
  13. Monitor and address all Health and Safety issues on site.
  14. Control of COSHH on site.
  15. Daily housekeeping in and around the Monocon site cabin.
  16. Be part of a call out team on a rota basis 24/7, covering call outs on plants around the UK.

Training Requirements

  • Formal school education.
  • Formal engineering training.

Training Provided

  • Passport to Safety.
  • Forklift Truck Training.
  • Site Induction.
  • In-house training by the site Manager and Field Service Manager on all aspects of the job.
  • Product training by the Sales team.

Extra Requirements

  • Driving License: A valid driver\’s license is required.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working in various environments.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to take on a variety of tasks as needed.
  • Travel: Passport required for foreign travel if/when required.
