Experienced Small Animal Veterinarians Wanted – Join Our Friendly, Well-Equipped Practice! Are you a confident, skilled vet looking for a friendly practice where you can make a genuine impact? We’re seeking two experienced veterinarians to join our team, offering a varied mix of consultations and routine surgery, with opportunities to develop your interests and work with modern equipment.

About Us

The Dales Veterinary Centre has been serving pets and their owners since 1982. We’re a friendly, close-knit team that values quality care, work-life balance, and supporting each other in providing the best experience for our patients. The practice is well-equipped, allowing us to manage the majority of cases in-house. Our facilities include laparoscopic surgery, carbon dioxide laser surgery, digital radiography, dental X‑ray, and ultrasound with colour Doppler, giving you the tools to deliver high-quality medicine and surgery. There is no out-of-hours requirement, with emergency care covered by Holly House Veterinary Hospital. For more complex cases, we have excellent relationships with nearby referral centres, including Paragon Veterinary Referrals, Swift Referrals, and Vita Referrals.

The Role

This is a varied small animal GP role combining consultations with routine surgery, ideal for a vet who has completed their VetGDP and is confident managing a typical first‑opinion caseload. You’ll enjoy building relationships with clients and guiding cases from the initial consultation through to treatment, including routine soft‑tissue surgery. You’ll be working alongside experienced GP vets Mark and Charlotte, supported by a skilled nursing and client care team who help keep the day running smoothly. While the caseload is primarily general practice, there’s scope to develop your clinical interests and make the most of the facilities available. The role would suit a friendly, collaborative vet who enjoys working as part of a close‑knit team and takes pride in delivering high‑quality care to both patients and their owners. The positions are full‑time (around 40 hours per week), with flexibility to structure your week across four longer days (8:30 am–6:30 pm) or five shorter days. The rota includes 1 in 3 Saturday morning consults (9 am–12 pm). With no out‑of‑hours, Sundays, or bank holidays, the role offers a healthy balance between work and life outside the practice.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Flexible rota options to suit your lifestyle
  • No out-of-hours—your evenings, Sundays and bank holidays are free!
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays.
  • CPD encouraged and funded
  • Membership fees covered for RCVS, VDS, and one additional subscription.

Location

The practice is based in West Yorkshire, within easy reach of the vibrant city of Leeds. This offers the best of both worlds: a relaxed community setting with quick access to a thriving city known for its restaurants, culture, and excellent transport links. You’re also perfectly placed to explore the stunning countryside of the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District—ideal for hiking, cycling, and weekend adventures.

Why Join Us?

  • Work in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, just 30 minutes from Leeds
  • Join a stable, supportive team with a loyal client base
  • Enjoy varied GP work with access to advanced equipment
  • Benefit from excellent local referral support when needed
