Our client is an exciting start-up, within the Bridging Finance space. We are looking for an Underwriter to join the team, to underwrite and process all new finance applications from receipt of application through to offer. The primary objective is to thoroughly assess the applicant’s financial credentials, match the case against lending criteria, and decide whether to approve (in principle) or decline the application. You will coordinate with relevant stakeholders, run credit checks, and apply general underwriting practices to ensure prompt and accurate decisions.
Role Duties
- End to end case ownership to ensure overall positive broker / customer outcome.
- Assess and underwrite new business cases in a pragmatic manner, verifying applicant information, documentation and supporting evidence.
- Demonstrate a desire to underwrite cases by suggesting alternative options on how a case may be acceptable as opposed to declining outright whilst still fully complying with Credit Policy and KYC governance.
- Focus on fostering positive relationships with both Brokers and customers, regardless of outcome.
- Compose Finance rationale that ensures Finance decision is clearly structured and documented covering both credit and CDD (KYC/Anti Money Laundering) in line with policies and any potential risks mitigated.
- Work cases in an efficient manner utilising the processes and policies in place to contribute to the business meeting agreed Service Level Agreements both internally and externally.
- Work collaboratively with all functions and business areas ensuring excellent customer service and identify opportunities to streamline the underwriting and approval process.
