Our Guest Experience Porters play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming, and seamless experience for every guest.

As one of the first and last points of contact for our guests, you will be responsible for ensuring the lobby and entrance areas are well managed, assisting guests with their luggage, and providing friendly and attentive service throughout their stay.

The Role – Guest Experience Porter

Position: Part-Time | Casual Basis

As a Guest Experience Porter, your main responsibility will be professional and efficient luggage handling, alongside maintaining and managing the hotel lobby and entrance areas to a high standard.

You will welcome guests upon arrival, assist with luggage, support smooth arrivals and departures, and ensure the lobby remains organised, welcoming, and well presented throughout your shift.

This is a flexible, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy hotel environment and delivering excellent guest service.

As the position is on a casual basis, flexibility and availability to support the hotel during busy periods, weekends, evenings, and peak arrival and departure times will be important.

Key Responsibilities Luggage & Guest Assistance

  • Take primary responsibility for the safe, efficient, and professional handling of guest luggage throughout the guest journey.
  • Welcome guests upon arrival and assist with unloading luggage from taxis, cars, and other transportation.
  • Collect, transport, store, and retrieve guest luggage safely and efficiently.
  • Assist guests with luggage during check-in, check-out, room moves, and throughout their stay.
  • Escort guests and their luggage to bedrooms when required.
  • Ensure all luggage stored by the hotel is appropriately organised, secure, and clearly managed.
  • Handle guests' personal belongings with care and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist with transporting luggage between bedrooms, storage areas, reception, and vehicles as required.
  • Support guests with heavy or multiple items while following safe manual-handling practices.
  • Manage luggage storage and collection efficiently during busy arrival and departure periods.
  • Ensure luggage trolleys are clean, organised, and readily available.
  • Follow all hotel procedures relating to luggage, security, lost property, and guest belongings.
  • Lobby & Entrance Management
  • Take an active role in managing and maintaining the hotel lobby and entrance area throughout your shift.
  • Ensure the lobby, entrance, luggage area, and surrounding guest spaces remain clean, tidy, organised, and welcoming.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence in the lobby.
  • Acknowledge and assist guests entering and leaving the hotel.
  • Assist with managing guest flow during busy arrival and departure periods.
  • Ensure luggage, furniture, and operational items are appropriately positioned and do not obstruct guest areas.
  • Monitor the lobby and entrance for any maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or security concerns and report these promptly.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere within the hotel's public areas.
  • Guest Experience
  • Provide a warm, friendly, and personalised welcome to all guests.
  • Act as a helpful point of contact for guests entering and leaving the hotel.
  • Provide accurate information about hotel facilities, services, restaurant and bar offerings, transport links, and local attractions.
  • Assist guests with taxi and transportation arrangements where required.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and enquiries.
  • Assist with delivering guest items, amenities, messages, and other requests to bedrooms when required.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to guest preferences, special occasions, and individual requirements.
  • Inform guests about the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy programme where appropriate.
  • Promote hotel facilities and services to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to the appropriate team member where necessary.
  • Teamwork & Hotel Operations
  • Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Management teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Support the Front Office team during busy check-in and check-out periods.
  • Assist with special events, group arrivals, VIP arrivals, and other hotel activities when required.
  • Communicate important guest information and requests clearly to the relevant departments.
  • Support the wider hotel operation when required, maintaining a flexible and one-team approach.
  • Follow Marriott brand standards, hotel policies, health and safety procedures, and security requirements.

About You

  • Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, guest services, concierge, porter, or customer-facing role is preferred but not essential.
  • Friendly, approachable, and confident when interacting with guests.
  • Genuine passion for providing excellent guest service.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with the regular handling and movement of luggage.
  • Able to follow safe manual-handling procedures.
  • Professional, well presented, and confident working in a busy hotel lobby.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high presentation standards.
  • Proactive and able to identify what needs to be done without always being asked.
  • Calm and professional when managing busy arrival and departure periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible and supportive team player.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and busy periods.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to accept casual shifts according to business requirements.
