We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Child and Family Worker to be part of our Family, Assessment and Support Team. We are looking for a motivated, hard‑working, and dedicated person to join our team to help develop and deliver exceptional service to improve outcomes for children and families in Westmorland and Furness.
About our teams
Family Assessment and Support Team provide direct support to children and families through a range of targeted interventions. This includes undertaking purposeful direct work with children and young people, completing life story work, and supervising family time between children and their parents to promote safe, positive, and meaningful relationships.
You will be responsible for building effective relationships with children, families, and professionals, ensuring that all work is child‑focused and contributes to positive outcomes. Maintaining accurate, timely, and high‑quality records will be essential to support assessment, care planning, and inform social work decision‑making. Your observations and reports will play a key role in helping to shape plans that safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Child and Family Workers with a positive ‘can do’ attitude who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and families. You will be child‑centred in your approach, creative in your thinking, and confident in developing innovative and engaging direct work with children, young people, parents, and carers.
The successful candidate will have strong observation and communication skills, enabling them to build trusting relationships and identify the needs of children and families. You will have an understanding of the impact of different forms of abuse, trauma, and adversity on children and family life, and be committed to supporting parents and carers to make and sustain positive changes.

Important information for the role
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s and Adults Barred List check.
