About this opportunity
Westmorland and Furness Special Educational Needs Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS) is a statutory service, operated at \’arm\’s length\’ from the Local Authority. We provide free, confidential, impartial advice and guidance to support parents of children with special educational needs and children and young people with disabilities.
This role involves working with children, young people, their families, and a range of professionals including schools, colleges, and the statutory SEND service to ensure the best possible outcomes for those with SEND and their families.
While SEND IASS covers the entire Westmorland and Furness area, this role primarily covers Kendal and South Lakes.
This position requires working on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week, with specific working hours to be confirmed with the successful applicant.
Who we are looking for…
- An individual who can listen, support, and offer impartial advice, including signposting to other services
- An understanding of the needs of families with children and young people with SEND
- An organized, flexible person capable of meeting the growing needs of the service
- An ability to work in partnership with schools and other agencies
Some local travel may be involved, although many aspects of the role can be carried out virtually.
