About this opportunity:

The Capital Programme team is responsible for the delivery of the Council’s capital programme and supports the delivery of significant elements of the Council Plan. The team delivers capital investment on behalf of a broad range of internal and external customers through a diverse range of projects and programmes including differing asset types and significant variations in scale. This is a key post within the Capital Programme Team.

This role will support the whole council by playing a leading role in the Council's internal decarbonisation programme. We are looking for a self-reliant and driven individual who has knowledge of low carbon solutions, with the ambition to implement the workstreams identified in the Carbon Management Strategy 2024-2029, leading to measurable and effective carbon savings.

Who we are looking for:

The role will involve leading on the development and implementation of a wide range of projects such as the retrofit of a variety of commercial buildings including fabric improvement measures, low carbon heating, energy efficient lighting and renewable energy systems. This will include consultation with stakeholders and contractors, developing plans, monitoring progress, evaluating impact and making recommendations for improvement.

Candidates could come from a variety of backgrounds but should be forward thinking and able to build relationships quickly to deliver projects. Candidates who can evidence where they have helped deliver or are delivering practical decarbonisation solutions would be well suited to the role; however, candidates working in roles with transferable skills who want to change career and work in carbon reduction are welcome to apply.
