About this opportunity

We are seeking dedicated and qualified Social Workers to join our Cared for and Support and Protect Teams, helping improve outcomes for children and families in Westmorland and Furness.

Team responsibilities

  • Support and Protect Team – Conduct short‑term assessments, develop Child in Need Plans and Child Protection Plans, complete pre‑proceedings work, and issue care proceedings for children from birth to 18. Collaborate closely with other agencies across the region.
  • Cared For Team – Care for children currently under local authority care, ensure appropriate care plans, support transitions for those leaving or having left care, and assess children seeking asylum.

Who we are looking for

  • Qualified Social Worker with a ‘can‑do’ attitude and a child‑focused approach;
  • Experience in child protection and safeguarding, including familiarity with Child in Need and Child Protection Plans;
  • Creative, innovative planning skills with a strong ability to inspire trust among professionals across agencies;
  • Successful experience in a similar role and good knowledge of safeguarding policies.
