About Day Services (DMH) Care Services:
Cumberland offers a range of day services for adults with physical and/or learning disabilities. Support is highly personalised to meet individual needs and promote independence. Services operate from various sites in Carlisle and include day programmes, performing arts, horticultural, woodcraft, swimming, rebound therapy and outreach support.
About the role:
As a day service support worker, you will get to know clients individually and support their wellbeing through physical and emotional care. Responsibilities include assisting with medication, providing personal care, and encouraging clients to achieve their full potential. The role requires flexibility, enthusiasm, willingness to undertake specialised activities and training, and an interest in driving a minibus.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support and care to adults with physical or learning disabilities.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Offer personal care and hygiene support.
- Encourage participation in day programmes and activities.
- Support physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with minibus driving as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in a care or support role.
- Willingness to undertake training and development.
- Interest or experience in outdoor activities.
- Commitment to the council’s core values: ambitious, collaborative, compassionate, empowering, innovative.
- Suitable DBS check – Enhanced DBS with Adults Barred List check.
Training & Development:
Fully paid training and development will be provided to support career progression.
