Salary: From September 2026 - £8.00 per hour – Apprenticeship Wage - during first 12 months. If 19 years old or over, after 12 months your salary will increase to minimum wage for your age.

About this opportunity:

As an Associate Project Manager Apprentice in our Transport & Highways Team, you will play a key role in helping deliver projects that keep Cumberland moving. You’ll support the team with planning and tracking key milestones across highways schemes, analysing business cases to make sure projects stay on course, and working with engineers, transport planners and other stakeholders to communicate progress clearly. Your day-to-day work could include preparing project reports, supporting senior project managers, identifying risks early to keep projects on track, and helping monitor budgets and timelines. You’ll also contribute to quality management—making sure every project meets required standards—and review outcomes to support continuous improvement across the service. This is a hands-on opportunity to build practical project management skills, gain real experience on live highways and transport projects, and be part of a team delivering meaningful improvements for local communities.
