We are looking for an organised, confident and warm Bar Supervisor to support the day to day running of the bar at The Culpeper. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy, quality-led bar, strong product knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for hospitality. This is a hands-on role for someone who leads from the front, takes pride in the details and enjoys supporting a team during busy services. You will work closely with the Bar Manager and Assistant Bar Manager to maintain high standards across service, drinks execution, cleanliness, stock control and team culture.

The Culpeper is part of a family of four pubs and a small farm in Deptford. We focus on seasonality, quality ingredients, responsible sourcing and team member happiness. We believe in hospitality as a force for good.

Responsibilities
  • Lead from the front and help set the tone for standards, service and culture at the bar.
  • Offer warm, genuine and professional hospitality to all of our guests.
  • Support the Bar Manager and Assistant Bar Manager in the day to day running of the bar.
  • Lead the bar team during services, ensuring clear communication, strong organisation and smooth delivery.
  • Ensure all drinks are consistently served to a high standard with care, speed and attention to detail.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge across cocktails, wine, beer, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Support daily briefings, tastings and product knowledge sessions for the bar team.
  • Help ensure the bar, cellar and storage areas are clean, organised, stocked and ready for service.
  • Support with deliveries, stock rotation, wastage reporting and general stock control.
  • Assist with rooftop bar readiness during the summer season, including set-up, stock levels, equipment and service flow.
  • Support event bar set-up, service and close-down when required.
  • Use the till accurately and ensure all items are put through correctly.
  • Support training for new bar team members, including drinks specs, service standards, opening and closing duties, and POS usage.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, Challenge 25, health and safety, cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive work environment at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a busy bar, pub, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
  • Experience as a Bar Supervisor, Senior Bartender or strong Bartender ready to take the next step.
  • Good knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits.
  • A genuine interest in responsible food and drinks sourcing.
  • A passion for hospitality and looking after guests properly.
  • Confidence leading a small team during busy services.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
  • Good understanding of stock rotation, cellar standards and daily bar operations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Calm, reliable and organised under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the business needs.
  • Full-time role across 5 days.
