About the role: We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Estimator to join our team. This role will involve pricing a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure works, with a focus on S278 street works packages. You’ll play a key part in securing new business by producing accurate, competitive and well‑supported tender submissions. This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial insight, excellent analytical skills and the ability to work confidently with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for a range of civil engineering projects
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to gather cost information
- Produce clear, structured tender submissions
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Use Constructionline and other public tender portals to source and respond to opportunities
- Support the wider commercial team in bid strategy and pricing discussions
Experience:
- Experience with Constructionline and other public tender platforms
- Experience pricing S278 street works packages
- Rail experience – advantageous but not essential
- Strong understanding of civil engineering methodologies
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong numerical, analytical abilities
- Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office
