Overview
Purpose of Role: The role is to support the Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Wellbeing (HSSEW) team on the ground day to day to implement our Safety First strategy and action plan at Windsor. This role has been created to help embed, review and maintain a safety management system within our Windsor Great Park portfolio. Windsor Great Park business operations comprise diverse estate activities including farming; retail; hospitality; public spaces / visitor attractions; forestry; rural sports; and building maintenance etc. This is a full-time site-based role (5 days a week) in Windsor Great Park, Windsor. Occasional home working may be permitted on agreement with line management.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with all managers and business leaders to ensure compliance with group policies and practices.
- Support the implementation of (and keep under constant review) health and safety strategies, policies and management systems and practices for each department and in relation to all work activities across the Windsor portfolio.
- Support the implementation of (and keep under constant review) safety and environment procedures, including but not limited to risk assessments; safe systems of work (SSOW) / method statements; COSHH assessments; DSE and internal, as well as external audits.
- Prepare and deliver training (internally) where required. Maintain oversight of external training - including competency, content etc.
- Responsible for basic accident investigation and analysis. Identify immediate, underlying and root causes, as well as recommendations for action to help prevent a recurrence.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans and undertake periodic tests of the arrangements that are in place.
- Coordinate and ensure that statutory obligations around service and maintenance of plant and equipment are carried out in a timely manner.
- Interpret HSE legislation and provide guidance to managers and business leaders on practical application, with a good working knowledge of codes of practice and best practice requirements to facilitate pragmatic decision making.
- Proactively identify where Safety First management practices can be improved and assist the organisation implement solutions to improve health and safety performance.
- Collaborate with Operational Managers and contribute to business plans to ensure health and safety objectives are embedded at the planning stage.
- Support all elements of Safety First and assist in preparing health and safety reports (including statistical information) and, when necessary, present reports at Committee Meetings and similar forums.
- Champion a positive approach to Safety First and promote this to all employees, as well as others affected by the company\'s activities, ensuring HSSEW is part of how we work every day.
- Support the development and delivery of toolbox talks and the in-house health and safety training programme.
- Keep accurate written records of all inspections and actions taken for reference in audits.
- Champion data quality excellence and maintain records well.
- Be an active member of the Health and Safety Committee.
- Operate flexibly across the business and deliver broader ad-hoc projects as required; support out-of-hours incidents if needed.
Requirements
- Cert IOSH or working towards.
- Desire to progress in a professional associated to the role.
- Proven track record of delivering and maintaining health and safety management systems.
- Experience with key components of a health and safety management system (e.g., fire safety, COSHH, legionella, asbestos).
- Experience of working with estate and agricultural businesses.
- Experience of accident reporting, investigation and analysis.
- A good level of computer literacy - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office packages (or equivalent).
- Strong communication skills and diplomacy - particularly verbal communication at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure to deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, taking responsibility for defined projects within timeframes.
- Ability to independently plan, prioritise and organise workload effectively.
- A solution-focused customer service approach.
- Confident, with the ability to challenge behaviour outside safety standards.
- Demonstrable flexibility and agility to work on ad-hoc projects across the business as required.
