Crafts Council seeks to engage an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) data analyst to support our EDI focused monitoring, benchmarking, reporting and presenting process for 2026-27.
Crafts Council annually captures and collates anonymised EDI data relating to:
- Recruitment
- Employees (with separate data captured about our leadership team)
- Freelancers / suppliers of services
Anonymised data is used for internal and external reporting, sharing key information with our funders, including Arts Council England, and to support decision making and planning across our organisation.
The Challenge
Our aspiration is for the makeup of individuals applying for and securing employment and freelance roles; for those volunteering with us, including our trustees; and for audiences and participants engaging with us to be reflective of the makeup of our society within the UK. This aligns with our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion objectives and plans as featured within our EDI action plan which we have committed to report on (qualitative and quantitative data) bi-annually, including on our website / online platforms.
We recognise an opportunity to better monitor and review annual anonymised data captured and to compare our data with data captured annually by Arts Council England and other relevant data taken from the Office of National Statistics. We want to agree and create a benchmark to measure ourselves against in this and future years in order to create further plans to realise our aspiration linked to representation. This will ultimately help us have clarity, from a facts-based perspective, of where we are doing well and where there is more work to do.
Objectives
Initial activity will include:
- Reviewing CC Equal Opps data for the last three years
- Researching ACE EDI / equal opportunities data for the last three years (linked to data provided by National Portfolio Organisations including ourselves)
- Extracting key comparative data from data published by the Office for National Statistics
- Creating a visual year on year comparison of ours and other data, noting trends including comparative gaps
- Using this data in discussion with key colleagues including our senior leadership team, project leads and EDI Committee members to consider findings, recommendations and to agree key actions
- Linking this work with our Salesforce data monitoring activity including dashboard development
- Creating a report which can be used internally and shared externally, also linked to our EDI action plan and monitoring
- Repeating this process on an annual basis.
Location
Activity is intended to be delivered remotely. Some activity may be delivered onsite at Crafts Council premises based in Islington, London.
Reporting to
Activity will be overseen by Ruth Richardson, Senior People and Resources Manager. The freelance consultant will work with the Senior People and Resources Manager and liaise with the Senior Leadership Team, EDI Committee members and other colleagues as required.
Days required for scope of work
Initial activity will be approximately 8 days. Additional days may be agreed.

About You
We are looking for an experienced EDI data analyst with a good understanding of data related protocol including GDPR compliance. You will be an excellent presenter and communicator with the ability to present detailed information in a visual, accessible and compelling narrative. You will be collaborative and supportive, task orientated and driven. You will have previously supported organisations in the design and delivery of their data capturing, monitoring and reporting processes. You will be adept at drawing data from different sources, including from Arts Council England and Office for National Statistics, and creating comparisons with source data; teasing out insights and recommendations to support further work. You will be able to take the lead on this piece of work. This is a delivery role primarily, with some advisory elements. Ideally, you will have experience of Salesforce.
