Job Overview
We are seeking both a talented head and sous chef to join our kitchen team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen, maintaining the highest culinary standards, and supporting management in leading and orchestrating the team. This is an exciting opportunity for chefs with a passion for both seafood and traditional pub food with a modern twist, who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. These positions are both full time and permanent working 5 days out of 7 based on a 45 hour working week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Kitchen Operations: Assist in managing kitchen operations, ensuring all dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standard.
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of food, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive environment. Ensure all team members adhere to kitchen procedures and health & safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Assist in stock management, including inventory control, ordering, and proper rotation of ingredients. Ensure minimal food wastage.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards, including sanitation practices and ensuring the kitchen complies with all local regulations.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain consistent quality control during service, ensuring dishes are served promptly and at the desired standard.
- Collaboration: Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient communication and a seamless dining experience for guests.
- Budget Management: Help control food costs by adhering to portion control, minimising waste, and following recipes accurately.
