The Senior Analyst - Impairment plays a vital role in shaping the organisation's understanding of its credit risk by developing and implementing analytical solutions that uphold both IFRS9 impairment requirements. This position not only delivers accurate impairment calculations and regulatory reporting but also provides clear and insightful explanations behind the results. By translating complex analytical outcomes into accessible insights, the role supports senior committees, executives and external auditors in making confident, informed decisions.
Operating across a diverse range of portfolios, the Senior Analyst produces high-quality analysis that informs impairment provisions, supports judgement-based decision making and enhances understanding of the credit cost of lending across business areas. Bringing experience from credit risk, financial services or related analytical environments, the role holder combines technical expertise in IFRS9, with strong skills in SAS, SQL, Python and advanced Excel. They apply statistical validation, challenge assumptions and identify trends or anomalies, ensuring robust governance and reliable outputs.

For this role you'll need to have:
- Detailed understanding of IFRS9 impairment provision methodologies and calculations.
- Experience of reporting on IFRS9 model outputs (PD, EAD and LGD).
- Advanced skills in the use of SQL, Python or SAS including SAS Macros, SAS Enterprise Miner.
- Highly proficient in Excel, and experience of creating insightful reports.
- Experience of writing detailed governance documents, committee reports and presenting to senior management.
- Education emphasis on a numerate discipline (ideally, statistics, finance or mathematics related) is necessary, or demonstrable equivalent skills through experience.
- An understanding of the relevant Credit Risk Regulations with respect to credit risk capital requirements and how they are calculated under both IRB and Standardised Approaches.
- Understanding of wider Credit Risk strategy, scorecards and decisioning systems would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of regulatory initiatives and the direction of travel in relations to capital regulations.
