Job Summary
The learning disabilities classroom specialist teacher/case manager will provide appropriate instruction for the student in the underlying basic skills that are prerequisite to language and academic learning as well as support the student in the academic and social-emotional areas.
Strong background in reading, writing, and math.

Requirements
Minimum of a B.
A./B.
S. in Education with Illinois LBS1 teaching license or LBS1 endorsement, experience working with students with learning disabilities.
Masters degree in education and special education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging STEAM lessons adapted to meet individual student needs.
- Incorporate science, engineering, technology, art, mathematics, and design thinking into meaningful learning experiences.
- Utilize inquiry-based, project-based, and hands-on instructional approaches.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning profiles, communication abilities, and executive functioning needs.
- Integrate assistive technology and adaptive tools when appropriate.
- Foster creativity, innovation, and critical thinking through authentic problem-solving experiences.
- Build opportunities for students to collaborate, communicate, reflect, and revise their work.
- Establish predictable routines and a structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, instructional coaches, and administration to support student learning.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs and instructional strategies.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives
- Manage classroom materials, technology, equipment, and maker-space resources.
- Teach and reinforce safe use of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Create displays that celebrate student creativity and learning.
- Participate in professional learning and school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain required certifications and professional competencies.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of The Cove School.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The Cove School is a non-public therapeutic day school for students with learning disabilities located in Northbrook, IL.
Cove students come from 60 nearby different public schools and families can also choose to fund tuition privately.
Classes are kept small.
Teaching is flexible and varies according to the individual student's learning style.
A team of onsite specialists work collaboratively to provide students intensive, integrated related services.
