We are a new Independent café which opened in October. We have a brunch offering and our hours are currently daytime. That being said we are looking to do some occasional evenings this year. Seasonal, local and carefully curated dishes outline our offering. We are looking to expand our passionate and driven team. The Country Kiwi is all about community and we are striving to make this location a hub for locals and visitors.
We are looking for a talented Chef to join our team and work alongside our Head chef. Our head chef has an extensive background in the industry. You will be expected to collaborate with him to create and expand our offering. This role will play a vital part in delivering outstanding culinary experiences for all of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, preparation, cooking and safety are maintained.
- Perform with a collaborative and efficient work ethic.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, maintaining recipes and ensuring presentation standards are met.
- Collaborate with local suppliers to source fresh ingredients that reflect our commitment to quality.
- Running the kitchen on your own in a calm manner when needed.
- Develop new menu items that reflect our brand, current culinary trends, seasonal ingredients while considering customer preferences.
- Ensure proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices are followed at all times.
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation is maintained at all times.
- To perform in a calm and collected way, due to the open kitchen you will be visible to customers in the café.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Skills:
- Proven experience in a CDP/Sous chef role within a kitchen environment.
- Strong background in food production and preparation techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and presentation styles.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Able to work alone or as part of a team.
- Willing to be flexible and get stuck in helping other team members - we are a new start up so it's all hands on and very collaborative.
- A hands-on team player with a passion for great food.
- Motivated, consider themselves a self-starter, and must be customer service orientated.
Qualifications:
- Food Hygiene Level 3 (minimum)
- Full Clean Driving Licence
- Minimum 2 year's experience in a similar role.
