The Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) in Lisburn is looking to appoint a Senior Education Adviser (Primary) who will be part of the senior management structure of CCMS. You will be a confident manager and strategic thinker who will take the lead role in one of the three CCMS multi-disciplinary teams and in the formulation of a range of related policies.

In consultation with the Director of Education, you will manage a range of staff as appropriate and will be responsible for the setting and completion of their programmes of work.

As Senior Education Adviser, you will:

  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in respect of delivery on the Raising Standards and Area Planning agendas.
  • Be responsible for leading one of the three multidisciplinary teams within CCMS.
  • Take a lead role in the formulation of a range of related policies and will liaise with other relevant officers, school leaders and external agencies in the collation and utilization of statistical data and information to inform the CCMS Annual Business Plan and associated action plans.
  • Be the line manager for a small team of Education Advisers.

You will be innovative, resilient, responsive to shifting priorities and challenges, and be capable of communicating and presenting the positive face of CCMS.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must be able to evidence having:

  • An Honours degree (minimum 2:2) or an equivalent or higher third level qualification in education.
  • Proven extensive experience of developing strategies to improve educational outcomes.
  • Proven experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies and programmes to bring about change and raise educational standards.
  • Experience in strategic management.
  • Proven extensive experience of leading and managing people or teams in the raising of educational standards.
  • Substantial management experience through holding a senior management position in the primary sector for at least three years in a school setting or in a multi-disciplinary organisation in the field of education.
  • Access to a form of transport that meets the requirements of the role.
