A new chapter for The Cotswold Company, right in the heart of Knutsford.
We're opening a new showroom in Knutsford town centre, and we're looking for a Showroom Manager to lead it from day one.
This is a rare chance to shape a team, a space, and a customer experience from scratch — building something that lasts, right from the start.
You’ll have at least three years’ retail management or supervisory experience, and a natural instinct for bringing people together with kindness and honesty.
Your team will look to you as the standard‑bearer for what great looks like — engaging, positive, and genuinely invested in helping them grow.
You’ll take real pride in your showroom, your people, and the furniture and service we’re known for.
That pride shows up in every customer who walks through the door.
- What you’ll be doing
- Owning your showroom’s P&L, delivering against sales budgets and KPIs, including follow‑up on leads and quotes, and keeping focus on what really moves the needle
- Leading from the front — using your retail experience and natural rapport to move sales forward
- Building a high‑performing team through coaching, stretch goals, regular feedback, and genuine development
- Creating a culture of collaboration and generosity, where people share ideas freely and want to do their best work
- Setting the bar for exceptional customer service — treating every customer with the same care you’d want for yourself
- Keeping the showroom merchandised to plan and VM guidelines, with consistently high standards
- Reporting on performance weekly, with clear analysis and practical solutions
- Planning and reviewing new ranges each quarter, thinking beyond this month’s numbers to what will keep working
- Partnering with the buying team to keep stock levels right for demand
- Owning stock control and accuracy, fully and consistently
- Sharing what you learn with fellow Showroom Managers and head office — and staying curious enough to learn from them in return
- Keeping a pulse on local competitors and opportunities to stay ahead
- Presenting your showroom’s story to your Retail Operations Manager — honestly, wins and all
- Working with the Implementation Department on general showroom upkeep
- Managing rotas to meet demand, especially around peak trade and key retail dates
- Running consistent, fair performance management, working closely with your Retail Operations Manager and People Team
- Coaching individuals and the team through any dips against target, with patience and integrity
- Upholding Health & Safety standards for your team and your customers
- Managing daily cash handling procedures accurately
- Managing payroll via I‑Trent, so your team is paid correctly and on time
Is this you?
- A genuine interest in furniture, design, and the details that make a home feel right
- Real passion for the Cotswold Company brand
- A commercial mindset — self‑motivated to hit KPIs and sales targets without losing sight of service
- Curiosity, and the confidence to ask questions and keep learning
- Resilience and adaptability when things change
- The ability to bring a team together through inspiration and a shared sense of purpose
- A restless streak — always looking for a better way to do things
- Strong communication skills, written and spoken, with the rapport to build trust across your team and customers
- Good time management and the drive to hit — or beat — your targets, the right way
- The finer details
Full‑time: 38 hours per week, 9.00am–5.30pm, Monday to Sunday (including bank holidays, depending on rota), over 5 days.
- 25 days holiday + statutory public holidays
- Company pension
- Medical and Dental Insurance
- 50% staff discount, 25% for family & friends
- — wellbeing support for you and your family, plus everyday discounts
- Cycle to work scheme
- Health & Wellbeing guidance and support
- Access to a discount platform
- Your birthday off
- A paid volunteering day each year
... and more.
Who we are
Over 25 years ago, we opened our first showroom in Bourton‑on‑the‑Water, in the heart of the Cotswolds.
That patch of rural England taught us something lasting: the value of timeless, understated furniture that brings a home to life.
We’re growing, and we’re ambitious — but we haven’t lost sight of what got us here.
Treating people well isn’t an afterthought for us; it’s how we work, every day, with our customers and each other.
We want a workplace where everyone can be themselves, feel like they belong, and know that if they need support, it’ll be there — no question asked.
If you’re passionate about what you do, and you want to help build something new in Knutsford, we’d love to hear from you.
Applicants should already hold the right to work in the UK. The Cotswold Company does not offer sponsorship.
