The Role

Due to the retirement of a long-standing member of staff, the Corsham School Academy Group seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and inspirational teacher of English, looking to join an ambitious team. The English team benefit from the joint leadership of a curriculum team leader, a lead practitioner and a head of key stage 3. Developing student literacy is a key school priority and the school additionally benefits from the leadership of a literacy co-ordinator who runs the whole-school reading programme and is developing a cross-subject reading and oracy strategy. English language, literature and Media are all taught at GCSE and A level, with potential opportunities to teach the latter if this is of interest to the successful candidate. The team has weekly CPD sessions, which is an opportunity to share best subject specific pedagogical approaches, collaboratively plan and/or standardise assessed work.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic practitioner who models excellent practice, has students’ progress at the forefront of their teaching, will deliver high quality learning experiences for all students and have a willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school. The Corsham School is part of a small Multi Academy Trust serving the market town of Corsham and surrounding villages. It is situated in North Wiltshire, on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, 8 miles from Bath and within easy reach of the M4.
