Fixed Term (up to 6 months) Harwich £64,530.00 - 71,013.00 per annum pro rata (Successful candidates will be appointed on the starting salary of this range) 37 hours per week.

We are seeking an experienced IT professional with strong hands‑on network infrastructure and cyber security expertise for a 6‑month fixed‑term appointment to cover a secondment. Working closely with the Head of IT, you will take ownership of cyber security, network, and infrastructure services, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, and operating effectively across the organisation.

As the technical lead and subject‑matter expert, you will focus on strengthening cyber resilience through the identification, management, and remediation of risks, supporting delivery of the TH Strategy Pillar "Secure Delivery." You will implement and embed practical cyber security controls, policies, and procedures, with hands‑on involvement in monitoring threats, managing vulnerabilities, and responding to incidents. You will also lead the Network and Infrastructure team and contribute to the development of a cyber operations capability, supporting both IT and OT environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver cyber security improvements and technical controls across the organisation
  • Oversee firewalls, endpoint protection, threat detection platforms (e.g. Darktrace), and related tooling
  • Manage and secure core network infrastructure (Cisco-based) and associated services
  • Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities and security risks
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and events
  • Drive progress towards Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation
  • Oversee key security tooling (e.g. firewalls, SIEM, Darktrace) and third‑party suppliers
  • Lead infrastructure and security projects and support continuous improvement
  • On call support may be required.
Skills, qualifications and experience
  • Cisco CCNP (essential) with strong hands‑on network experience
  • Experience with penetration testing outputs and vulnerability assessments, and translating findings into actionable remediation plans
  • Proven technical experience across cyber security and infrastructure environments
  • Experience with security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response
  • Strong understanding of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation)
  • Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and support technical teams
  • Ethical hacking (or similar) training desirable
